I saw a sigh on the Bill Board of a local church this morning. It read: "The house of God can not be built with stumbling blocks." Although I understand the intended meaning, the first thought that came to mind was: Oh yes it can! The church is being built by a stumbling block! (Considering that the people are the church, not the actual building.) Jesus is the stumbling block and rock of offense and has become the chief cornerstone.
Jesus is The Living Stone and we are like living stones that God uses to build a spiritual temple. We are to be holy priests who offer spiritual sacrifices to God. These sacrifices are accepted through Jesus Christ. People stumble because they do not obey God but we are "a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession." We were chosen to tell about the wonderful acts of God who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light and we have received His mercy.
I can't take credit for this awesome thought - I Peter 2 tells us about this and much more.
Let's live like strangers and foreigners in this world!
