What is the Way Network?

Greetings in the name of Jesus: the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

It is really amazing to me to see how Father continues to connect His children from all over the world. This blog and our weekly newsletter originate in Sumner County, Tennessee through one local group of followers of the Way. We are a loosely defined "network" of followers of the Way everywhere, but especially in the region in and around Sumner County. What started out as a way for our local church to stay in touch and encourage each other continues to grow and touch people all over the world. We now send a weekly email newsletter to over 90 different email addresses in at least 3 different countries. Wow!

What is this all about? We definitely do NOT want to centralize a group of followers of Jesus. (Goodness knows where that has led the Church in the past!) Rather we want to help mobilize followers of the Way everywhere. While the name "the Way" is attached to this blog and our website, it is not our name per se. Instead, we view it as a way to identify ourselves as part of the Way universal--followers of Jesus. As you probably know, "the Way" is a name Jesus used to refer to himself and even a name the apostles used to refer to followers of Jesus during the first century. So no, we're not associated with The Way International or any denomination of Jesus' church. Our identity is in Jesus alone. As far as we are concerned, all who follow Jesus are part of the Way.

One of our goals is to see Jesus' brothers and sisters connect and encourage each other no matter where they are. Of course, since most of us are participating in the organic renewal of the Church, most of the people on our email list and most of the people we gather with regularly are part of local organic churches as opposed to the conventional church. This, however, does not mean we stand against our brothers and sisters who still remain in the conventional church system. No matter if they religiously assemble every time the church building doors open or if they gather organically with other followers of Jesus in homes, we're all family serving the King!

If you ever want to add a friend to our newsletter list, direct them to our website where they can subscribe. Or you can just send me a name and email address. I'd be happy to add them to the list. From time to time, I imagine there will be some who will want off the mailing list. That's okay with us. We understand people get lots of junk mail and do not need another long email to wade through. So if you want off the list, there is an unsubscribe link in every email. It won't hurt our feelings at all.
